The Weld County Family Child Care Association is a
non-profit organization of licensed child care providers and child care
advocates dedicated to promoting quality child care and professionalism.

We provide high-quality environments where infants,
pre-school and school-age children thrive.

You hold the key to an important decision.Choosing child care is one of the most important decisions
that parents of young children will make. Since children often spend 40 or more hours a week in a child care
setting, it is essential that parents pick the most appropriate setting
possible.

Why a licensed family child care home?

Licensed family child care homes are an excellent choice for many children. Family child care, also known as in-home child care, is done in
a home setting offering low provider ratios, an opportunity to bond with one child care provider and receive loving, nurturing care by a trusted adult.

Many child care homes offer pre-school programs to help parents ensure that children will be ready for kindergarten. Home child care
also tends to be a much more affordable option for the typical parent, while offering quality and tender loving care. Home child care offers a great deal of
variety and flexibility with some providers offering evening, weekend, or overnight care.

Since most child care homes accept children ranging from newborn to twelve years old, children in a home child care setting benefit from
interacting with children of all ages. For only children, this can be an especially beneficial experience that allows them to learn tolerance, patience,
and understanding towards other children of different developmental levels.

Low provider to child ratios allow for more one-on-one attention, less exposure to illness, and an opportunity for bonding.

While many think “baby-sitter” when they hear family child care, there is so much more to today’s licensed child care
provider.  In order to become a licensed child care provider, one must take classes in the following areas•Developmentally appropriate practices

•Child growth and development

•Healthy and safe environment

•Cultural and individual diversity

•Social emotional development

•Family relationships
